Sales of apartments in Turkey are witnessing a high increase during the month of April of this year, according to the latest statistics issued by the Turkish Statistics Authority.

Apartment sales doubled in Turkey during April 2021

As a follow-up by Imtilak Real Estate Company for every emergency and news about the Turkish real estate issue, especially about the sales of apartments in Turkey of all kinds, we stand in the following lines on the latest published official data, issued by the responsible authorities.

According to the data of the Turkish Statistics Authority, the number of apartments sold throughout Turkey during April of this year reached 95,863 apartments, achieving an increase of 124.1% over the sales of apartments during the same month of the previous year.

Istanbul is at the top of the apartment sales in Turkey

Istanbul accounted for 20.1% of total condominium sales in Turkey in general during the said period, achieving the highest percentage of sales among all Turkish states, by sales of 19,260 apartments. The Turkish capital, Ankara came second with the sale of 9,126 apartments, with a rate of 9.5% of public sales. Izmir came in third place, with the sale of 5,505 apartments, and a rate of 5.7% of apartment sales throughout Turkey during the month of April 2021.

Speaking of provinces that achieved the lowest apartment sales in Turkey during April 2021, the state of Ardhan led with the sale of 9 apartments, followed by the state of Hakkari with the sale of 13 apartments, and the state of Gumushane with the sale of 50 apartments.

More than 29,000 apartments sold for the first time

The statistics issued by the Turkish Statistics Authority also included the number of sales of new apartments throughout Turkey during April of the current year, which amounted to 29,212 apartments, achieving an increase of 96.7% over the sales of the same month of the last year 2020.

Istanbul accounted for the largest share of new apartments in Turkey during April 2021, with a sale of 5,232 apartments, and a percentage of 17.9% of the general sales of new apartments during the month of April. Ankara ranked second with the sales of 1869 new apartments and Izmir ranked third, with the sale of 1530 new apartments.

Sales of used and mortgaged apartments during April 2021

The sales of used apartments during the month of April 2021, reached 66,651 second-hand apartments, achieving an increase of 138.6% over the sales of used apartments in the month of April of the previous year 2020.

Istanbul has achieved first place among the Turkish states that sell the most used apartments, with a sale of 14,28 apartments, achieving 21% of sales of used apartments throughout Turkey during the month of April 2021. Ankara came in second place, with the sale of 7,257 second-hand apartments, and Izmir came in third place, with the sale of 3,975 second-hand apartments.

In the same context, the sales of mortgaged apartments during the month of April of the current year reached 17,514 mortgaged apartments.

Istanbul ranked first among the Turkish provinces that sold mortgaged apartments with a sale of 3,769 mortgaged apartments, with a rate of 21.5% of sales of this type of homes throughout Turkey during April 2021. While Hakkari was the province with the least selling of apartments foreclosed on the sale of one apartment.
