The general directorate of land registry (title deed) and cadaster of the Turkish ministry of environment and urbanization, has started since the 18th of March 2020, completing the registration procedures of real estate transactions and transferring the ownership through its electronic system (Web Tapu), as part of the precautionary measures against the pandemic of the new Coronavirus (Kovid-19) which has been spreading fear all over the world.

This action comes to reduce the crowding on the title deed offices to prevent the spread of infection between the people, through completing their transactions such as buying, selling, registering property, transferring it, and removing the mortgage, etc., via the website of the General Directorate of Land Registry and Real Estate Survey online, the only thing to do after that, in this case, is to go to the Land Registry Directorate for personal signature on the transactions.

The information indicated that the number of electronic transactions that have been completed since the announcement of the decision reached more than 113,000 transactions. These transactions included the sale of nearly 30,000 apartments throughout Turkey.

Half of the sales were the share of Istanbul province:

The information indicates that Istanbul won first place among the Turkish states in the number of apartment sale transactions that have been completed through the website of the General Directorate of Land Registry and Real Estate Survey, where the number of sold residential apartments in Istanbul between the 18th and 31st of  March 2020, were 15,000 apartments, thus, Istanbul has acquired more than half of the sales of residential apartments that took place all over Turkey during this period, and areas of Istanbul that sold apartments the most in the mentioned period are EsenyurtPendik, Umraniye, Kucukcekmece, and Kadikoy.

The Turkish capital Ankara came in second place among the Turkish provinces that sold apartments the most through the (Web Tapu)system, with 8,674 apartments sold, followed by Izmir with 6,000 apartments sold, then Antalya with 4,496 apartments sold, then Bursa with 4149 apartments sold.
