The Ovet Tunnel Enters into Operation at the End of this Year

Turkey is preparing to open a new and secure tunnel, which is supposed to be ready by the end of this year.

The 14.54 km Ovet Tunnel is the second longest tunnel in the world, connecting the states of Erzurum and Riza in the north-east of Turkey.

The tunnel is located in the strategic area of eastern Turkey, and will also be connected to nearby ports.

It will also be a substitute for roads linking the Black Sea with eastern and northern Turkey.

The cost of the project amounted to approximately one billion and 140 million liras, equivalent to 330 million US dollars.
