Yeni Safak Newspaper for Turkey news reported that economic cooperation activities, which combined the Palestinian and Turk businessmen, were held in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday 09.11.2016 under the auspices of the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board.

The forum aimed to encourage investment and strengthen relations between the two countries and to announce the industrial area, which was founded in Jenin (in the north of West Bank), that will provide 5,000 job opportunities directly and indirectly, in addition to holding bilateral meetings between the businessmen of the two countries.

According to the organizers, 50 Palestinian businessmen from various Palestinian areas, except the businessmen who live in Gaza Strip, and more than 60 Turkish businessmen participated in the economic forum.

On the sidelines of the forum, the organizers dedicated a hall for holding bilateral meetings combining the businessmen to inform them the investment opportunities available in both countries.

Palestinian businessmen offered opportunities to export many goods to Turkey such as natural stones, dates, flowers, fruits, Palestinian mango, and oranges.

Turkey announced two years ago the taxes and customs exemption of 1,000 tons of Palestinian dates entering its markets per year.

Jamal Abdul Kareem, president of the Turkish-Palestinian Business Council, said that Turkey is a supportive country to the Palestinian cause, "Therefore, one of the objectives of the forum is to call for the dissemination of its goods and factories in Palestine."

Mazen Sinkrat, the Palestinian former minister of economy and a businessman, think that "the meeting will shorten the way for developing the relations between the two countries. We firmly believe that Turkey and its economy and political support are in the side of the Palestinians; this is a great thing that counts."

Many of the Middle Eastern and North African countries are seeking to strengthen their economic cooperation with Turkey, which managed a successful financial and economic experience.

He added: "Israel is still the first economic partner by virtue of domination and control over the Palestinian border crossings, China is the second one, and Turkey is regarded as the third partner."

According to Mustafa Oglu, an agent of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), The amount of commercial exchange between Turkey and Palestine increased by 771% between 2005-2015 as a result of the free trade agreement between the two sides in 2004.
