Turkey ranks ninth in the world in the export of construction materials

Turkey made progress in building materials exports during the year 2021, rising to ninth place in the world, and achieving 2.38% of global building materials exports.

Turkey steps over the ninth place in the world in the export of building materials

The Building Materials Manufacturers Association of Turkey İMSAD has released its annual report, which presents economic data related to the construction sector in Turkey, under the title: "İMSAD Report on the Construction Sector in Turkey for the year 2020".

This report includes a general assessment of the economy of Turkey and the world, in addition to analytical studies of the construction sector and the building materials industry in Turkey, with expectations related to this sector.

Turkey is making progress in light of a global decrease

According to the data contained in the aforementioned report, global building materials exports in the year 2020 witnessed a decline of 2.8%, in light of the economic crisis caused by the spread of the Coronavirus epidemic, as the total value of these exports amounted to approximately $887.9 billion.

While Turkey has made remarkable progress, rising from eleventh to the ninth rank in the world, among the most exporting countries of building materials around the world, the volume of Turkey's exports of building materials during the year 2020 amounted to about $21.2 billion.

In terms of quantity, Turkey's exports of building materials during the year 2020 amounted to approximately 59.96 million tons, achieving an increase of 16.2% compared to the amount of building materials exports during the year 2019.

In 2020 building materials exports, Turkey achieved 2.38% of building materials exports around the world, and Germany and the United States of America were among the three countries that imported the most building materials from Turkey during the year 2020.

Turkey also ranked 33rd among the countries that import the most building materials around the world in 2020, rising 4 places from its rank in 2019.

Marked progress in the internal market

With regard to the internal market figures, Turkey achieved during the year 2020 a progress of 9.1% in the production of building materials, compared to its productivity rate in 2019.

Moreover, Turkey witnessed growth at the level of the internal building materials market, which amounted to 8.1%, while the volume of revenues of the internal building materials market reached $408 billion last year.
