The number of construction permits granted doubled during the first quarter
According to statistical data from Statistics Turkey TÜİK, the number of construction permits granted by municipalities in all of Turkey has increased significantly during the first three months of the current world, with 32,832 permits granted during the said period, an increase of 131.8% over the number of permits granted in the same period last year 2020.
The number of apartments for which licenses were issued during the first quarter of this year reached 168,447 apartments, achieving an increase of 105.6% over the number of licensed apartments during the same period last year 2020.
This increase in the number of construction permits is reported to be an extension of a large construction movement, which began in 2020 after a phase of slight stagnation, started in 2017 due to some economic conditions.
The construction area licensed during the first quarter exceeded 33 million square meters
In terms of area, during the first quarter of this year, the buildings for which construction permits were granted in Turkey amounted to 33.2 million square meters, an increase of 87.5% over the buildings, which were licensed during the same period last year, 2020.
These areas were distributed over 18.2 million square meters for residential apartments, 8.1 million square meters for non-residential properties, and 6.9 million square meters for public utilities and spaces designated for common use.
The financial value of the buildings for which construction permits were issued during the first quarter of this year amounted to 75 billion TL, an increase of 144.3% over the financial value of the buildings, which were licensed during the same period in the year 2020.
As for the buildings that were granted a permit for use during the first quarter of this year, they achieved an increase of 12.5% in terms of the number of buildings, 4.4% in terms of area, 34.5% in terms of material value, and 2.1% in terms of The number of units, compared to the statistics for the same period last year, 2020.
