Conclusion of the COMCEC Activities with Participation of the Turkish President and Distinguished Presence of the Imtilak Group

The 40th ministerial session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) concluded its activities on November 5, 2024, with the participation of the Turkish President.

In his speech, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination among member states to face global economic challenges. He noted that strengthening this cooperation and sharing innovative solutions would enable member states to build stronger economic resilience and achieve sustainable growth.

For his part, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, highlighted in his opening address the pivotal role of the committee in supporting economic cooperation among member states. Taha also reviewed the achievements made by the organization in boosting trade exchange among member states, stressing the need for effective implementation of programs and projects to reach the goal of increasing intra-trade to 25% by 2025.

The Secretary-General emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in the areas of food and agriculture, especially to support rural communities in the least developed countries. He underscored the importance of increasing coordination among member states and the organization's institutions to achieve its developmental objectives.

The agenda of the session included discussions on the progress made in cooperative projects across fields such as trade and investment, agriculture, tourism, finance, the private sector, poverty alleviation, and other critical sectors.
