Turkish-British Economic Relations in Their Golden Age

Friendly relations prevail, and a positive atmosphere dominates the economic relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom, especially after the significant increase in mutual investments between the two sides, turning Turkey into a central hub for British investors.

Strength of Economic Relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom

In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Mr. Chris Gaunt, President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey (BCCT), said: "The economic relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom are very strong and solid. We are working to further strengthen these relations and always strive to maintain British economic institutions in Turkey, as well as the joint economic agreements between us, while working to develop and grow them, especially after England's exit from the European Union."

Mr. Gaunt added that Turkey and Istanbul will be the center of the EECAN network, which includes 14 countries:

Turkey, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine.

He confirmed that efforts will be made to connect Turkish and British companies to these 14 countries, noting the strength of foreign investments in Turkey, which has become a leading investment market among global markets. He explained that Turkish companies already have a strong economic presence in Russia, South Africa, and Central Asia, and that this will greatly benefit the development of British trade in these countries, especially through economic cooperation between Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Mr. Gaunt said: "Due to its strategic location, Turkey will play an unexpected role in regional issues in the coming days on all levels, but economically and in the business world, it will have a prominent role globally. The rapidly growing Turkish market is the closest to us and to our economic and investment inclinations. Investment in Turkey tops the list of British investment destinations, so we must work to strengthen our ties with it."

The Royal Medal for Economic Relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom

Thanks to the development of trade relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom, and commenting on the British Royal Medal that will be awarded to him in an official ceremony in the coming months as President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey, Mr. Gaunt said: "I did not expect it; I was chosen for this medal thanks to the development of economic relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom. It is not just for me, but for everyone working in the British-Turkish Chamber of Commerce."
