Apartment sales in Turkey increased during the last month of 2022.

Statistical data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute during the last month of the current year recorded the sale of 207,963 residential apartments in December of the past year 2022, with a remarkable increase of 76.52% compared to apartment sales in the previous month, meaning it achieved the highest monthly figure for the year 2022.

As for annual sales of residential apartments last year, according to the mentioned source, they reached 1,485,622 apartments.

Istanbul tops the list of provinces with the highest sales

In the details of the data, Istanbul ranked first among Turkish provinces in apartment sales during December of this year, with 36,744 apartments sold, accounting for 17.7% of total apartment sales across Turkey during that month.

Ankara ranked second with 16,146 apartments sold, accounting for 7.9% of total sales, followed by Antalya in third place with 11,168 apartments sold, making up 5.4% of total apartment sales across Turkey in December 2022. Ardahan was the province with the lowest apartment sales, with 58 apartments sold during the mentioned month.

Istanbul also topped the annual apartment sales across Turkey last year 2022, with 259,654 apartments sold, followed by Ankara in second place with 126,166 apartments sold, and Izmir in third place with 83,502 apartments sold.

The provinces with the lowest apartment sales last year were led by Ardahan with 468 apartments sold, followed by Hakkari with 910 apartments sold, and Bayburt with 956 apartments sold.

Sales of new apartments reach 77,889 units

In a related context, sales of new apartments during December of this year reached 77,889 units, achieving an increase of 1.5% compared to sales in the same month of 2021. Sales of new apartments accounted for 37.5% of total apartment sales in Turkey during the last month of 2022.

Official statistics recorded the sale of 460,079 new apartments last year 2022, representing 31% of annual apartment sales during the mentioned year.

As for used apartments, their sales during December of this year reached 130,074 units, representing 62.5% of total apartment sales in Turkey during the tenth month of this year.

Regarding annual sales of used apartments, statistical figures recorded the sale of 1,025,543 units, accounting for 69% of apartment sales last year.

Sales of mortgaged apartments

Regarding sales of mortgaged apartments, the number of mortgaged apartments sold in Turkey during December of last year reached 21,796 units, with mortgaged apartments accounting for 10.5% of total apartments sold in Turkey during the last month of last year.

As for annual sales of mortgaged apartments last year, they reached 280,320 units, representing 18.9% of apartment sales during the past year.

Meanwhile, sales of non-mortgaged apartments during the last month of last year reached 186,167 units, representing 89.5% of total apartments sold in Turkey during the mentioned month. 

Non-mortgaged apartments achieved annual sales of 1,205,302 units, accounting for 81.1% of total apartment sales during 2022.
