Opening of a new metro line connecting the "Arnaout Koy" district to Istanbul Airport

 
The president inaugurated a new metro line connecting the "Arnavutköy" district to Istanbul International Airport.

This came during his participation via video call in the inauguration ceremony of the mentioned metro line.

Erdogan pointed out that the new line is 14 km long and consists of 4 stations.

He explained that the line reduces the distance between the "Arnavutköy" district and the airport to 8 minutes, and between the district and the city center to 41 minutes.

He noted that the length of the railway system in the city has increased to about 162 km since the opening of Istanbul Airport, while the total distance has reached about 362 km.

This coincides with the urban and economic renaissance that Turkey has witnessed since the beginning of the third millennium in general, which reached its peak in recent years, where the Turkish government, represented by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, has paid great attention to public road and transportation networks and has achieved notable accomplishments in this field.

The metro lines in major cities have received significant attention during the development of internal transportation, witnessing numerous network development achievements in this regard, with Istanbul having the largest share as the most populous and tourist-attracting city among the major Turkish cities.

According to the statements of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, the city of Istanbul has witnessed the opening of a metro network with a length of 147.7 km distributed over dozens of lines throughout the city. This network has had a significant impact on improving transportation quality, reducing congestion, saving time, and enhancing the tourism sector by extending the networks between the most important city centers and its farthest edges.

 Istanbul Completes a World-Class Metro Line This Year

This metro line is of great importance in the city as it connects the Arnavutköy area to Istanbul Airport, with a length of 14 kilometers, forming the penultimate part of the circular metro line that will be 69 km long and will hold the position of the longest line in Turkey and one of the longest metro lines in the world. The completion of this line is expected with the final part connecting Kayaşehir and Halkalı, during this year.

The mentioned line connects the Arnavutköy area to Istanbul International Airport, passing through four stations: Arnavutköy (Arnavutköy) – Taşoluk (Taşoluk) – Istanbul Airport Cargo Section (İstanbul Havalimanı Kargo) – Istanbul Airport Terminal (İstanbul Havalimanı Terminal)

With the completion of this line and its integration with other lines, the travel time between Arnavutköy and Göktürk will be reduced to 20 minutes, the journey from Arnavutköy to Kağıthane will be reduced to 32 minutes, and the distance between Arnavutköy and Istanbul Airport will be covered in 8 minutes using the mentioned metro.

In another part of his media statements, Minister Uraloğlu confirmed that the construction and operation of new metro lines are continuing at full speed, noting the use of the concrete slab system for the first time in the preparation of metro lines, where pre-manufactured concrete slabs are used for this purpose and are installed with high precision, with the iron rails placed on them accurately without making any mistakes. He pointed out that the pre-manufactured concrete slab system is more accurate than the on-site cast slab system and is one of the modern applications and techniques that have become popular worldwide in the construction of metro lines within cities.
