Investment in Turkey: An Important Market for Austrian Investments
Referring to the large number of Austrian investments in Turkey, the Austrian Trade Commissioner and Head of the Austrian Trade Office in Istanbul, Mr. Georg Krapazek, said in a statement to Anadolu Agency: "The volume of investments made by Austrian companies operating in Turkey has reached 10 billion and 250 million dollars. They operate in the fields of energy, packaging, building materials, insurance services, and banking."
He pointed out that Turkey is an important partner for Austrian companies in implementing projects in third-world countries. It is ranked among the top 20 markets for them and has a promising future thanks to the facilities provided there. He also emphasized Turkey's important location, as it is considered a center for European exports and Balkan countries.
Krapazek noted: "More than 1,000 Austrian companies wish to invest in Turkey, and they receive great support through organizing exhibitions and events. Turkey has a promising market, an educated nation, and promises a high growth rate."
Krapazek continued his speech, saying: "We have great faith that the commercial potential between the two countries (Turkey and Austria) is greater than it currently is, and deserves to be developed."
Austrian Praise for the Capabilities of the Tourism Sector in Turkey
Austrian Trade Commissioner Georg Krapazek praised the great development in Turkey's tourism sector, thanks to its attractive features for tourists, such as freshwater lakes, beautiful beaches, high mountains, dense forests, and other enchanting natural areas.
He said: "Turkish tourism has many winter resorts, such as Uludag Mountain in Bursa, but it faces some challenges in attracting tourists to summer tourist areas and developing its mountainous regions, to become a center for summer tourism."
Krapazek added: "Despite all that, Turkey has great ability to face these challenges and can overcome these problems with a little investment and useful ideas presented in this field."
He also pointed out that the tourism sector in Turkey needs some investments that would make Turkey a leader among European countries. He said: "Success cannot be achieved overnight, and staying at the top is not easy. Tourists always want the best services, and they are very demanding in that regard."
He added: "More than 45 million foreigners visited Turkey, and the revenues of the tourism sector in Turkey reached 34.5 billion dollars during the past year 2019."
Krapazek participated in the Winter Infrastructure and Mountain Tourism Conference, which was held in Uludag at the beginning of February 2019. He said: "We were able to organize this conference after two and a half years of prior planning. It was the first of its kind to be organized in Turkey and was a great opportunity to exchange ideas regarding investment in Turkey and discuss projects between Turkish officials and Austrian companies."
