Turkey's apartment sales rise by 56.6%

The residential real estate market in Turkey witnessed remarkable activity during April 2025, as apartment sales in Turkey increased by 56.6% compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Authority, while the number of apartments sold reached 118,359 apartments, and foreign sales of apartments in Turkey grew by 13.2 percent during the mentioned period.

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Authority, the number of residential apartments sold in Turkey during the month of April amounted to 118,359 apartments, achieving a progress of 56.6% compared to the sales of the same month in 2024.

The sales figures for the month also marked the highest number of fourth-month sales in the last three years.

In the details of the figures, Istanbul ranked first among the Turkish states with the sale of 18,645 apartments during April 2025, followed by Ankara in second place with the sale of 10,889 apartments, and Izmir ranked third with the sale of 7,014 apartments.

As for the least sold residential apartments in the fourth month of this year, the state of Ardahan topped the list with the sale of 37 apartments, followed by Tunceli with the sale of 75 apartments, and Bayburt with the sale of 88 apartments.

Foreign sales advance by 13%

In terms of foreign sales, the number of residential apartments sold to foreigners during April this year amounted to 1,440 apartments, achieving an increase of 13.2% compared to foreign sales in the same month of 2024.

Foreign sales during the first four months of this year amounted to 6 thousand and 18 apartments.

The percentage of foreign sales during April of this year amounted to 1.2% of the overall sales of residential apartments in all of Turkey.

Istanbul topped the Turkish states most sold to foreigners

In the details of the data, Istanbul ranked first among the Turkish states that sold the most apartments to foreigners during April 2025, with the sale of 529 apartments, Antalya ranked second with the sale of 497 apartments, and Mersin ranked third with the sale of 117 apartments.

Russians are the top buying nationalities

Regarding the ranking of foreign nationalities according to their purchases of apartments in Turkey, the Russians ranked first as the most foreign nationalities buying apartments in Turkey during April 2025 with 276 apartments, followed by Iranians in second place with 128 apartments, and Ukrainians ranked third with 120 apartments, and the purchase figures for the ten most purchased nationalities were as follows:
