Turkey: Apartment sales to foreigners increased by more than 200% in May of this year

According to official data issued by the Turkish Statistics Authority, the number of apartments sold to foreigners in May of this year reached 5,962 apartments, achieving an increase of 235.7% compared to sales of the same month last year 2021, and the highest monthly sales for May in the past three years.

The percentage of foreign sales in May of this year was 4.9% of the total general sales of apartments throughout Turkey.

As for the sales of apartments to foreigners during the first five months of this year, they amounted to 26,753 apartments, achieving an increase of 70% compared to sales of apartments to foreigners during the same period last year.

Istanbul tops the Turkish states that sell the most to foreigners

The details published in the official data showed that the state of Istanbul ranked first among the Turkish states selling apartments to foreigners in May 2022 with the sale of 2451 apartments, and the state of Antalya came in second place with the sale of 1885 apartments, while the state of Mersin came in Third place, with 264 apartments sold.

Russians are among the top buyers of nationalities

Regarding the classification of foreign nationalities according to their purchases of apartments in Turkey, for the second month in a row, the Russians ranked first as the most foreign nationalities buying apartments in Turkey in May 2022, with the purchase of 1,275 apartments.

The Iranians ranked second with the purchase of 736 apartments, and the Iraqis came in third place with the purchase of 617 apartments, and the purchase numbers of the twenty nationalities that purchased the most were as follows:
