Progress in apartment sales in Turkey during the first month of 2023

According to statistical data issued by the Turkish Statistical Institute "TÜİK", the number of residential apartments sold in Turkey during January of this year reached 97,708 apartments, marking an increase of 10.65% compared to apartment sales in the same month last year.

Apartment sales in Turkey during the mentioned month also recorded the highest number of sales for the first month over the past three years.

Istanbul Leads the Provinces with the Most Sales

In the details of the official data issued by the Turkish Statistical Institute, Istanbul ranked first among Turkish provinces in apartment sales during January of this year, with a total of 17,415 apartments sold, accounting for 17.8% of total apartment sales across Turkey during the mentioned month.

Following Istanbul in second place was the Turkish capital Ankara, with 8,808 apartments sold, representing 9% of total sales, followed by Antalya in third place, with 5,578 apartments sold, accounting for 5.7% of total apartment sales across Turkey in the first month of 2023.

The provinces with the lowest apartment sales in Turkey during the tenth month of this year were led by Hakkari with 23 apartments sold, followed by Ardahan with 24 apartments sold, and then Tunceli with only 42 apartments sold.

New Apartment Sales Reached 27,532 Units

In a related context, the number of new residential apartments sold during January of this year totaled 27,532, an increase of 1.2% compared to new apartment sales in the same month last year.

The share of new apartment sales reached 28.2% of total apartment sales in Turkey during the first month of this year.

As for used residential apartments, their sales during January of this year reached 70,176 apartments, an increase of 14.8% compared to used apartment sales in the same month last year.

The share of used apartments sold during the mentioned month was 71.8% of total apartment sales in Turkey during the first month of this year.

Sales of Mortgaged Apartments

Regarding mortgaged apartment sales, the number of mortgaged residential apartments sold in Turkey during January of this year reached 16,203 units, with mortgaged apartments accounting for 16.6% of the total apartments sold in Turkey during the first month of this year.

Sales of non-mortgaged apartments during the first month of this year reached 81,505 units, accounting for 83.4% of the total apartments sold in Turkey during the first month of this year.
