Turkey Enables Signing Lease Agreements via e-Devlet Government Portal

The Turkish government has launched a new service for signing lease agreements via the e-Devlet portal. This allows property owners and tenants to conduct their transactions electronically in a secure and convenient manner. The service is part of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance’s efforts to simplify legal procedures and promote digital transformation, with the potential for expanding the scope of the service soon to include authorized real estate brokers.

With the new service, property owners and tenants can complete lease agreements through an online platform using their verified e-Devlet accounts. The property owner will prepare the lease agreement for their property using a model available in the "Lease Agreement Transactions - Kira Sözleşmesi İşlemleri" section of the e-Devlet website.

Once the agreement is prepared, the tenant can approve it via their verified account on the government portal. The system sends an approval request to the tenant's account, officially finalizing a lease contract with a unique electronic barcode, which can be easily retrieved from the site and used in any legal transaction concerning the lease.

The second phase of the service, expected to launch at the beginning of the year, will enable authorized real estate brokers to draft lease agreements, which they can present to both property owners and tenants for approval via their personal accounts on the government portal.

Notably, the service will allow the creation of joint lease agreements for shared property owners with up to ten shares in a single property. In cases where a property is jointly owned by multiple individuals, each owner will be able to participate in executing a lease for the shared property through their verified account on the e-Devlet government portal.
