The Turkish General Directorate of Land Registry and Land Survey announced that 68,600 properties were sold to foreigners in the past year 2021. In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Director of Land Registry and Real Estate Survey, Mehmet Zaki Adli, said that the sale of real estate in Turkey to foreigners has increased significantly since 2018.
Turkey is a safe destination
Mr. Adli pointed out that Turkey is a safe destination for citizens of Arab countries and the Middle East, indicating that the citizens of these countries act out of the logic (we resort to Turkey as a safe haven in case we encounter trouble in our country).
He explained that last year, 68,600 properties were sold to foreigners, including 64,500 houses (houses), and about 4,000 plots of land, with a value of 40 billion Turkish liras (the dollar exchange rate is about 13.52 liras).
Nationalities that purchased real estate in Turkey the most
Mr. Adli pointed out that the citizens of Iraq and Iran came at the forefront of most foreign real estate buyers in Turkey during the past year 2021, followed by citizens of Russia, Britain, Germany, and Afghanistan.
He also added that the cities of Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, and Mugla are at the forefront of Turkey's best-selling real estate cities for foreigners.
